COVID ENTIENDA MÁS SOBRE. PANORAMA GENERAL DE CUIDADOS PREVENTIVOS.
En las últimas décadas, varios virus nuevos han surgido como amenazas para la salud humana en todo el mundo. El ejemplo más reciente es el nuevo coronavirus de 2019.
El virus en sí se llama SARS-CoV-2, y la enfermedad que causa se llama COVID-19 (abreviatura de Coronavirus Disease 2019).
El SARS-CoV-2 llamó la atención de las autoridades de salud a finales de 2019, cuando fue identificado como la causa de un pequeño número de casos de neumonía en la ciudad de Wuhan, en la provincia de Hubei, China (OMS 2020). Desde entonces, el COVID-19 se ha propagado globalmente y fue declarado pandemia por la Organización Mundial de la Salud el 11 de marzo de 2020 (CDC 2020b; Chappell 2020).
Este cuadro ha demostrado ser más una ENFERMEDAD METABÓLICA que una virosis voraz. Quizás por este motivo, el PROCESO INFLAMATORIO INTENSO generado por el COVID, cuando afecta a personas con INFLAMACIÓN CRÓNICA SILENCIOSA, en general, es más intenso y tiene una mayor probabilidad de complicarse.
